It is WAY past our bedtime, but we just got back from the Bean's ballet recital and I wanted to write and let everyone know how she is doing. Her ear looks MUCH better and she is less traumatized by the whole experience than I expected. She is on three antibiotics -- a topical one for the actual infection site on her ear, a heavy dose of amoxicillan for the potential Lyme disease, and another medicine for multidrug resistant staph infection (again, just a precaution -- her doctor said that they are just seeing so much of it lately they are treating everything that has to potential to develop into one very aggressively). She was able to attend and enjoy the Moo's end of the year party the next day, after which we met with her pediatrician just to run the medications by her and get the ear checked for further signs of infection. She slept like a baby (maybe for the first time in her life!) last night.
Today we got up and went to watch the Moo in her PreK class play "The Very Hungry Caterpillar;" the Moo was a lollipop! It was her last day of school, and she is coping with some pretty intense emotions. Her teacher pulled me aside and said that when they told the kids to line up for pick up for the last time as Pre-Kers, the Moo burst into tears and hugged her teacher so hard that she nearly knocked the teacher down. Her teacher also told me what a special and wonderful child the Moo is -- I'm sure that her teacher thinks that about all of the pupils, but it was very nice to hear such high praise for our little one.
The it was on to riding lessons (rescheduled from yesterday), home for naps, and on to the Bean's recital. Of course, I forgot the camera. Can I just say that she is the most adorable little ballerina I have ever seen! She danced as a clown and as a "prancing poodle" (it was a circus theme) and she takes after her aunts in her love for the stage. She had the biggest grin of everyone in her class, ESPECIALLY when she heard the applause. So, all is well that ends well -- thanks so much to everyone for the well wishes!
